Come and check out the granite slabs at Red Rock (Ben Nevis) in Western Victoria! Red Rock is a 200m high cliff with nice rock. Some rebolting efforts last year means there's now a number of reasonably-protected multi-pitch routes. Material has been prepared for the new guidebook (see sample topo in trip photo) and will be distributed to attendees.
Email the trip organiser for more information or to register for the trip.
It's about 2 hours drive from Melbourne. We'll be camping at Chinaman Camping area (free, good facilities, very poor mobile reception) and driving up the mountain (10-15 minutes) each day. Red Rock is only a 5 minute walk-in from the top car park (assuming you have a 4WD).
The slabs face west meaning not a good option for hot weather. It should be very pleasant by April.
This trip is open to members and guests, and suitable for intermediate to experienced climbers only who are comfortable with multi-pitch rappels and climbing on granite. Find your level here at the Trip Participant Guidelines or contact the trip organiser.
All intending participants can expect the trip organiser to ask for details about your climbing experience and gear.
Email the trip organiser to register for the trip.
This is important! The trip organiser will be in touch after you register to confirm your booking. You are not booked on the trip until you are confirmed by Steve.
The club encourages car pooling. However, this is optional and each participant should make their own risk assessment. The trip organiser will contact participants before the trip to arrange carpools.
